Galilean Service

We invite you to join us August 16 for our Galilean Service at Stroup’s Pond, 349 W Matterstown RD, Millersburg. The evening will be filled with worship and refreshments.
For many years, we have been gathering at the pond on Elwood Stroup’s farm to worship the Lord in what we call a “Galilean” service. This gathering is reminiscent of the incident at the beginning of Jesus’ earthly ministry when the crowd wanting to hear Him was so large that it became necessary for Jesus to stand in a boat at the edge of the shore so people could hear and see Him (Luke 5:1-3). This setting not only provides a beautiful environment for worship and fellowship, but it also accentuates several important theological truths. It reminds us that Jesus was a real person who walked on the same Earth as we do. He came to live among us, to teach us and ultimately to give up that life so that we might be able to walk with Him in another completely different place – heaven. We let our minds wander to the amazing truth that the Creator of the land and the water actually came and left his footprints on the ground and dipped his toes in the sea.
